Message from Senator Colburn

I am sincerely grateful to all who voted for me in the 2010 Primary Election. I love representing the Mid-Shore and will continue to work hard on its behalf. A steadfast commitment to constituents is the highest form of public service, and I am committed to serving the people of the Eastern Shore. With the conclusion of the Primary Election, I want to thank everyone who worked on behalf of my campaign. As we now begin working on the campaign for the General Election, I want to express my appreciation for everyone who has supported me.

I want to congratulate Paul Galanek for running a clean, respectable campaign. He did remarkably well in running for Maryland’s geographically largest district with limited resources. And, in regards to those candidates who will not be continuing on to the General Election, I urge them to continue to keep their commitment to public service alive.

Thank you for your support and encouragement, it is my honor to serve you!

Sen. Colburn and Del. Haddaway-Riccio announce September 19th fundraiser at the Red Roost

Senator Richard F. Colburn (R-Eastern Shore) and Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio have announced that on Sunday, September 19, 2010 they will be hosting a fundraiser at the Red Roost Restaurant located at 2670 Clara Road in Whitehaven from 1-4 pm to support their campaigns. The Red Roost is owned by brothers John and Tom Knorr. Colburn stated, “This will be an excellent opportunity to talk to 1st Congressional District candidate Andy Harris, Delegates Eckardt and Haddaway as well as myself about the upcoming election. This event will take place right after the primary and 33 days before voting begins for the general election.”

Delegate Haddaway-Riccio is anticipating a fun afternoon of casual conversation and great food. She stated “It is an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of District 37B with Senator Richard Colburn and Delegate Addie Eckardt. This event is a great opportunity for us to talk with those constituents, discuss current events and enjoy local food and fare."

A popular eatery in Wicomico County, The Red Roost’s history dates back to the 1940’s when it originated as a chicken house constructed of cinder block and oak. Once abandoned, it was reclaimed during the 1970’s when it became The Red Roost Restaurant. Residents of the area flocked to the eatery to sample delicious steamed crabs, fresh corn on the cob and mouth watering fried chicken. Many of the traditions of the original Red Roost can still be found today!

Tickets for the event are $50 per person. They may be obtained in advance by calling (410) 924-0098. Checks can be made payable to Citizens for Colburn Committee and mailed to 5210 Heron Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
